On the stand, the caregiver who took care of Alex Murdaugh's mother described discussions she had with the disgraced lawyer around the time that his family was killed. Shelley Smith testified that the disbarred attorney from South Carolina had told her that he had been at his mother's house for thirty to forty minutes on the night that his wife and son were murdered. Smith asserts that Murdaugh spent approximately 15 to 20 minutes at his mother's residence while she was there.
