e55. PCA-2019 Recap

The VoxPopcast - A podcast by Vox Populorum - Mondays

If you’ve been listening to the show for the last few weeks, you know that all four hosts have been preparing for PCA2019, the national conference of the Popular Culture Association in Washington DC. In fact, episode 52 and episode 53 featured previews of our papers. The conference was from April 10 to April 13, and we had a great time. All of our presentations were successful and we had a great time meeting new friends and hanging out with old ones. Halfway through the conference Mav, invited Wayne, Hannah, Katya and friends of the show John Darowski and A. David Lewis to record a special PCA special edition if the show. We had a freeform discussion of why academics go to conferences, why we study popular culture, why Hannah thinks The Good Place is the best show on TV, why Katya hates Twitter, what new words Wayne has learned, and whatever other geeky topics come to mind. We also drank a lot of beer. Because that how after hours at academic conferences work. Join us in our free wheeling conversation and let us know what you think.
