152. Qigong & the Black Bagua Pendant (☲/☷)
The Way through Baguazhang - 八卦掌道 - A podcast by Peter Hainzl
It is Tuesday morning and bucketing down heavily. And cold. Sydney CBD, which is normally humming with people, is unusually quiet. And as far as energy work goes, I had had enough of the Blue Kyanite Pendant. While it is a beautiful pendant, something about wearing it is a little off, and spiritually speaking, the weather would only get worse if something positive wasn’t done about it soon. And so I had found my way to Paddy’s Markets in Haymarket at the bottom end of Chinatown. Yes, Sydney has its very own Chinatown replete with all the things a lover of Chinatowns around the world could love. Except that in Sydney, Chinatown is mostly for the tourists. The true heart of Little Chung Guo is a little further out west in Ryde. To make a long story shorter, at Paddy’s Markets I bought a black jade bagua pendant inlaid with a bit of gold colour so that the black bagua symbols can clearly be seen. I paid the amount due and put it on. The rain stopped and I made my way back up George Street to Kinokuniya Japanese bookstore. Where I spent the rest of the day mucking around. It has been more than a week since, and if the weather has been anything to go by, then I would say things have improved dramatically in the right sunny direction. Except that, by whatever algorithm Google uses, I am now getting article and video suggestions that imply that I have gone bonkers with all this pendant stuff. Normally I would be concerned about such a labelling, except that I live in a world where results matter. And consistent results matter even more. And that while the talkers regard me as bonkers, those that want proof tend to pay me a friendly visit. You see, the thing is about qigong, like anything else, is that you have to have the intention to have qi in order to be any good at qigong. And… Everytime you do qigong, you set the intention of what kind of qigong it is and why you are doing qigong. Most people do qigong for better health and that is exactly what they get. And most people only do qigong up to the point where it aligned with them. Once it goes beyond their perception of themselves, then we get into the unknown. To hide behind science, is just putting up walls of ignorance. What most people regard as science isn’t even science. But unverified hand-me-down assumptions and commonly held beliefs. Real Science is always progressing by questioning and testing its own theories. So, now that Google, in its infinite algorithmic wisdom thinks I am bonkers, what will be the course of future events? Well firstly, I will continue to do qigong, baguazhang, weiqi and the i-ching and continue to grow. And that is a fact. And Secondly, my life will continue to become more beautiful and prosperous because of it. That is also a fact. Because ladies and gentlemen, we are always in a state of creation: The reality you experience - love it or hate it - is yours and no-one elses.
