163. The Quantum Reality between Baguazhang & Qigong (☴/☴)
The Way through Baguazhang - 八卦掌道 - A podcast by Peter Hainzl
Because I am a practitioner of Baguazhang, I always love it when I see it displayed or used in martial art stories and artwork. I like other styles too, but I am only human. Sometimes a little too cocky and sometimes a little too timid in the martial ways but always seeking the truth. Even if it is biased towards Baguazhang. So it comes as no surprise to those who enjoy what I profess, when I tell yet another story about Baguazhang featuring yours truly. Like always, it starts with a high expectation of hearing about some fight that took place in some back alley that nobody's heard of. But eventually it ends with nothing of the sort. And that's just the way things are. We want to be the hero of folklore but we must deal with the daily fact that our martial arts life is overwhelmingly the empty spacetime between adventures that never gets recorded... Welcome to the boring everyday world of Quantum Reality. We see a particle-wave jump an empty gap and go "Wow!". Wondering how it could achieve such a feat? Never realising that if the particle-wave were the main character in a story, it simply jumped from one story to the next because there is no spacetime in between. No reality between the two stories in which it could exist and so it does not. Many people don't realise this but it is true when I say that at a certain level of proficiency in Baguazhang, when a person does Baguazhang, they are simultaneously also doing Qigong. The two mediums are at this level one and the same thing. Provided that the practitioner wants to go to that level. So what is the relationship between Baguazhang and Qigong? And how does it relate to Quantum Reality? It relates like this: When a practitioner rejects the spiritual language of higher levels of martial arts, a practitioner typically has no way of progressing forward in their development and so tend to get stuck in the reality they are in. At first this is okay and may even be enjoyable. But there always comes a point in the story where the glorified bruises turn into marks of shame and regret. And the only way to transcend up to the next level may be through an extremely harmful event. And so, in comes Quantum Reality to fill in the void left between those wishing the physical path versus the spiritual stuff. It's all just a subtle mindshift. A tiny shift in thinking that opens the door into the world of Qigong and qi as a real tangible thing that a Baguazhang practitioner can wield into something useful.
