188. Qigong & the Black Bagua Pendant (☯ 6 months later)
The Way through Baguazhang - 八卦掌道 - A podcast by Peter Hainzl
Since my adventures with the energy pendants, I have been consistently wearing the Bagua pendant everytime I hold a Qigong class as part of cultivating the dantian qi within it. After six (6) months of wearing it, I have noted a slight buzz feeling over the area on the chest where it usually tests upon. And if I wear it for too many days in a row, a pulling heaviness settles upon it. The heavy pulling sensation is more of a nagging that precedes a thought or vision around the ideas of Qigong and energy cultivation, that if I follow it, usually leads to interesting places — Adventures, if you will. One of those nags eventually turned into me curiously wondering how many of the American martial art magazines I've collected over the years, had articles to do with Qigong? I found two. One was supposed to have been about WuQi 武氣 or martial energy. It was a poorly written article that started with the roots of the Chinese character of Wu which means martial or "to stop a spear". But maybe it was a printing error or something but it had nothing on qi or even what WuQi 武氣 means. Honestly, I had trouble finding information on it, on the internet. Even in Chinese. The second article was about a qi style called "Jade Egg Qigong". It is a very intimate form of Qigong that involves the healing energies emitted from a stone egg craved from Jade. This led to other references from other cultures and traditions on energy fields surrounding pendants and specially craved necklaces, and so forth... Then, on a nice weekend morning about a month ago, my Chinese wife, who normally doesn't care much about my shamanic dalliances, asked me how my adventure was coming along? I told her. And she asked me if I had contacted Fonda Lee, the author of "Jade City"? I asked her why and she just told me that it would be good to connect, seeing how we got something in common: I'm doing with black Jade in real life, what she's expressing in fiction. And so I did. Connect. It took about a couple of days but we connected. I introduced Fonda Lee to my podcast and the episodes related to her. But don't expect any more than that. Fonda's in America and is a cool author. And I'm too unconventional. Most people have a hard time believing the stuff I talk about until they actually meet me. Which at times is hilarious. People meet me. Realise I'm for real. Have a little freakout while I'm struggling with my own life getting a little boring. Jesus... I'm starting to sound jaded. A ha-ha...haaa... Seriously folks, is there anybody out there who has experienced this concept called WuQi 武氣? Or maybe I should quit the energy pendant business: Put on a square suit and return to the cubicle. What do you think?
