193. Qigong Art of War - In the Land of War
The Way through Baguazhang - 八卦掌道 - A podcast by Peter Hainzl
In a world obsessed with the tangible like solid matter, those things that do not easily fit into a construct made up of three dimensions plus one of time, usually gets dismissed as quackery. For most people, when it comes to things like Qigong, this thing we call "qi" is mostly accepted provided that it stays within the bounds of breathing, meditation and sublime stretching exercises. Anything more and the fear of the unknown kicks in. Most of these fears are based on ignorance of the unknown. We like to believe that because we live in the 21st Century, and in a first world nation, operating the best technology and have access to knowledge never before witnessed in the history of the world, that somehow we are more advanced than our ancestors. But our ancestors knew from working experience that just from human perception alone, there are more than three spatial dimensions: length, width, height, depth, girth and breadth. The reason why I am using dimensions as an example is because Qigong is not just mystical juju. Although, when it comes to Martial Qigong, giving the perception of mystical juju works in its favour until, of course, someone who actually knows the Qigong Art of War turns up. And shines the light of truth on what it actually is. The Qigong Art of War is not better Kung Fu. Kung Fu is Kung Fu. And fighting is fighting. The art of fighting belongs to the fighter. That's their job. Here the Art of War is about eliminating the Ignorance of Darkness. And battling against the fears that lead to enslavement. A slavery that gets planted deep within our souls first and then grows like a weed outwards until we have lost our way. Losing our way cuts us off from our Tao and stops us from experiencing the natural flow of qi around our body as a real physical sensation. And so, we dismiss it as charlatan quackery. Even though our bodies fall into illness and disease. The ancients referred to this as being possessed by unclean souls or demons that felt like being in a waking nightmare that never seemed to end. But please take note: This is not about good versus evil. This is about cutting back the deadwood, so that one's light can shine forth without effort. Thereby allowing one's qi to just flow again, even through the Land of War with grace and ease, if need be.
