47. The teahouse serves tea

The Way through Baguazhang - 八卦掌道 - A podcast by Peter Hainzl

☰ People have been drinking tea 茶 for about 3000 years. And in that time for those in the tea business it have been profitable. ☷ The only downsides were mostly to do with the weather and pests, if you were a farmer. And then maybe robbers or the government. ☳ These days the government tends to support us. Robbers find no value in tea 茶, and ripping people off just isn't worth it commercially. The weather and pests are still an issue for the farmer. But all-in-all, life in the tea industry goes on. ☴ So then why do so many teahouses fail in this lucrative trade? ☵ It's because we have lost touch with the consumer. We've become incongruent to what tea 茶 is about: The drink that soothes the nerves and calms the soul, without the regret (of alcohol). ☲ People nowadays are so disconnected with real life that they will do anything to feel excited and alive. Even if it means living with chronic stress and pain. Not deliberately, mind you; It's just more exciting than the everyday boring plain. ☶ And so tea 茶 has also become the boring everyday plain to a lot of people who would drink it. But it only takes one mishap for it all to come tumbling down. And the forgotten teahouse will be right there helping the lost and confused to pick up their pieces. ☱ Tea Time equals Me Time is not about being boring. It is about giving help to those who need a break from all this stuff we call the modern lifestyle. Not all of it. Just the bits that wear us down. Liked what you heard & want to connect with me?
