The motion at this year's The Irish Times Debate was: ‘This House believes the women of Ireland should strike to repeal the Eighth Amendment’ In this episode we bring you highlights from the winners: Leah Morgan of the Solicitors’ Apprentice Debating Society of Ireland in the individual category, along with Aisling Tully and Dara Keenan from UCD who took the team prize. There is also an excerpt of a speech delivered by Children’s Minister Katherine Zappone, who chaired the debate. Also this week, much was made of a dictat issued by Fusion Ball in Kilkenny recently aimed at teenage girls attending the disco. It featured pictures of what organisers deemed “deplorable dresses” which they said would be banned. Journalist Arlene Harris has strong views on the issue – she spoke to Kathy Sheridan.
