In this podcast we talk about how women are treated by society and institutions in Ireland today in the context of revelations from the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes concerning Tuam. Last Friday, the commission announced that “significant” quantities of human remains had been found buried under the site of the former institution for unmarried mothers run by the Sisters of the Bon Secours in the Galway town. Irish Times Social Affairs Correspondent Kitty Holland and columnist Hilary Fannin, joined Kathy Sheridan to discuss the very sad story and spoke about what has changed for unmarried or single mothers since then.
