The Wright Report - A podcast by Bryan Dean Wright

A good day to you, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to The Wright Report, your daily news podcast. A wonderful holiday week to you all. I hope your Fourth of July celebrations were great. So for the rest of this week, folks, I’ll be offering you short briefs that we’ll dive into further next week. But we’ll just cover the essentials for now. In Europe this morning, the leaders of Ukraine and Russia are both saying there will be an attack on Ukraine’s nuclear power plant later today. Next, the fight between China and the US is heating up, with Beijing announcing yesterday that it would restrict the export of two key rare earth minerals Also on the International front, Mexicans in the United States just sent back a record amount of remittances home to Mexico — $5.6B in May, in fact. That raises the issue of whether some of that should be taxed for things like border protection services. And speaking of the border, we might have more Cubans making their way to America. That’s because there’s a duel crisis to tell you about this morning. First, upwards of 10% of Havana is without drinking water today, with old leaky pipes largely to blame. Second, demand for electricity is up 25%, but the grid has failed in different places throughout the country. We’ll also discuss a remarkable injunction issued yesterday from a Federal Judge that blocks the White House and federal agencies from meeting and communicating with social media companies like Facebook and Twitter.
