30: Why you shouldn't "charge your worth" when pricing your offerings
The Yogipreneur: Business and Marketing for Yoga Teachers - A podcast by The Yogipreneur: Business and Marketing for Yoga Teachers
If you’ve been teaching for any length of time or just being in business, perhaps as a freelancer, you’ve probably heard people say “charge your worth” or charge what you’re worth, your time is worth so much more. This is always part of a larger conversation about pricing, and is something I’ve definitely heard in the yoga space usually between a teacher who is struggling to make a sustainable living teaching yoga and a friend or even a coach trying to be helpful. The message is that if you’re not charging what you’re worth, you’re not charging enough and dammit, you’re worth more than that. In this episode I’m talking about charging your worth and specifically why you shouldn’t charge your worth. This may be the opposite to what you’ve been told so listen to this episode and let me explain. Topics Covered: Your intrinsic self worth does not align with how much money you earn Tying your pricing to the value of your work instead of your personal value! Imposter syndrome and self doubt Our deep rooted beliefs, emotions and behaviour around money Taking the emotion out of pricing Communicating the value of your offering The way you price has to be linked to what you can offer as results Why charging higher prices can make your offerings easier to sell Charging more can motivate you to raise your game Questions to ask yourself when it comes to pricing Separate your potential income from your self worth The Digital Yoga Academy Facebook group is a community of thousands of yoga teachers all over the world.
