“There should Be More Openness, There’s Too Many Secrets” | Jaz Bushell
Too British To Be Asian - A podcast by Sharan Raju
Categories:
Nutritional Therapist specialising in anxiety and Stress, Mind and Body support specialist Jaz Bushell speaks candidly on the deep emotional issues of unhealthy attitudes towards illness, accountability and the burden of secrets which affect South Asian families. Although we initially spoke on anxiety our discussion organically led to the psychological impact of the culture of secrets within families. Not holding people accountable for their actions and the reason for children breaking away and deciding not to live with the controlling pressures that parents put onto children. Jaz Shares her experience telling her cancer diagnosis to her family, “You didn’t get it from my side” was her mother’s initial response. However, the lack of support just strengthened Jaz’s spirit as she realised that her health was her responsibility and top priority. She made the most bravest and informed decision to change her nutrition and lifestyle instead of opting for chemotherapy. Jaz believed the loss of her father and the stress of life was possibly a fundamental part of her diagnosis. “Education is power” - Jaz Bushell DM Jaz for any enquiries; Website: www.jazbushellnutrition.co.uk Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jazzbushell/
