15. Why Do We Love Black Women’s Culture, but Fail to Love Them or Allow Them To Love Themselves?

Too Smart For This - A podcast by Alexis Barber

Categories:

In this episode, I talk about society’s love to appropriate Black women’s culture and aesthetics, but their failure to show up for Black female humanity - as represented through the lack of support for them in every industry, the high rate of deaths for Black Trans Women, and the abuse, neglect, and failure to support Black women in the medical field as well. Stereotypes like the “strong” and “angry” Black woman are what are keeping us from accepting Black women, and I tell stories of how that has changed my life and kept me from being my full self too. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5806440/advertisementAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy This is a public episode.
