He graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BBA in Finance in 1987, immediately entered the banking industry and became a commercial lender in Houston, TX. In his 20's, he moved back to El Paso, TX and founded an electric and light electro-mechanical assembly company in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico (Bortec Industrial, S.A. de C.V.) providing offshore services to multinational corporations. At its peak, the business had 2,500 employees and was sold in the late 90's. In addition, Anthony worked with his family in other businesses including professional employer organizations, commercial real estate investing and mergers & acquisitions (as both an intermediary and investor). Much of Anthony's youth was spent working in the family business, Azar Nut Company in El Paso, TX: A full line nut meat processor/ packager/ distributor and candy manufacturer. Anthony had the great pleasure and privilege to work with his mentor and role model, Ed Azar Sr. at Azar Nut Company and other family businesses. Anthony attributes virtually all his foundational business lessons and wisdom to his father. Anthony is married to Paula Scott Azar and is the proud father of three exceptional young men.
