In the late 1980s and early '90s, a child abductor and rapist began snatching children right out of their homes, often while their parents or other family members were present. Residents of Melbourne, Australia, were terrified that their child might be the next one targeted. Dubbed Mr. Cruel by the press, the offender was calm and organized.
