Happy 2023 to everyone! In this episode we go to Corleone, but it’s not the fictional Corleone we saw in the Godfather, this is the real story of Placido Rizzotto, a trade union leader murdered by the mafia - the real mafia - in 1948. The movie "Placido Rizzotto", directed in 2000 by Pasquale Scimeca, says a lot about what life was like in Sicily in the late ‘40s specially for the peasant workers. World war 2 has just ended. Placido left the Italian army in northern Italy to join the resistance against the nazis and the fascists and just came back to his hometown Corleone. We’ll hear the voices of Placido, played by Marcello Mazzarella and young Saro, the son of the shepherd - who existed in real life too - played by Giuseppe Gennusa.
