In this episode (3 of 3), René talks about Donny George, living conditions, personal impact, KBR, site protection, working with the military and Heritage for Peace. René Teijgeler is a social scientist and a conservator. He studied Sociology, Social Psychology and Anthropology (summa cum laude). As a conservator he worked at the National Library of the Netherlands and designed risk management plans for different heritage institutions home and abroad. Throughout his career René developed a keen interest in preservation issues in non-western countries. Working for Fair Trade NL he got acquainted with the ins and outs of humanitarian aid and applied the different humanitarian standards to heritage aid projects. He joined the army as a reserve officer of civil affairs and served as senior cultural advisor in Iraq (2004-2005) and in Afghanistan (2009). He has advised many international heritage organizations, lectured in many capitals and published numerous articles.
