02/11/18 Discipleship 101: Free to Obey

Sunday Homilies with Fr. Mike Schmitz - A podcast by Ascension - Saturdays

Homily from the Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time. What happens when the disciple knows better than the rabbi? A person can be touched and made new by Jesus and still not be a disciple. One common aspect of discipleship is actually doing what the rabbi tells one to do. But what happens when the disciple knows better than the rabbi? The answer is: they cease to be a disciple. But what is needed when the disciple thinks they know better than the rabbi? The answer is...they need obedience.
