A Posture of Unprejudiced Attention

Upaya Zen Center's Dharma Podcast - A podcast by Joan Halifax | Zen Buddhist Teacher Upaya Abbot

In this Wednesday night Dharma talk and the first talk in the Fall Chaplaincy Sesshin, we are gracefully reminded by Sensei Monshin of the roots and foundation of practice. Monshin points towards the ground of practice as zazen which is often misunderstood to be a retreat from the world.  Monshin clarifies that no matter which direction we face on the cushion our posture is always an expression and model of the awakening we so need in our burning world. We are reminded there is an inconceivable aspect of zazen which permeates beyond our ability to know, doubt, or analyze and when we take up the appropriate posture we cultivate this inconceivable nature.
