Welcome to the 119th episode of Urbcast, in which we will talk about: How can coliving influence our cities? 🧐 My guest today is Kristen Zupancic - the Chief Operating Officer and now Advisor at Co-Liv - a non-profit organization, ecosystem, and do-tank whose mission is to empower the coliving phenomenon worldwide. She is also the founder of Plot Twist Placemaking where she helps shared living models activate spaces for wellbeing, flexibility and transformational experiences. Today we discuss the potential of coliving and its' synergy with placemaking to tackle the housing shortage, urban sprawl and health challenges in our cities.  Why should we talk about it? We are facing more and more housing challenges in our cities. Housing market goes crazy, flats are overcrowded, but at the same time we approach the pandemic of loneliness. Can some of those problems be overcome by developing coliving concepts? Why is it worth listening to? Because Kristen shares with us many interesting nuances behind the coliving. After listening, you will know who is coliving for, and how can it influence social interactions. But also what should architects & designers be aware of when they design coliving spaces. Some of the topics we touched upon: What is coliving? Coliving vs. cohousing What challenges does coliving address? What influence can coliving bring to cities? What is the crossover between coliving and placemaking?  What is the Place-Led development?
