It’s GCSE results day... except this year - no-one sat the exams. After grade A, A-Level confusion with students finding themselves down-graded by an algorithm and losing university places, the Government made a U-turn and dropped the system ahead of today’s GCSE results. This came as a big relief to 16 year old Kritika who collects her grades today. But, with results now based significantly on teacher assessments and predicted grades, she’s worried it still might affect black and ethnic minority students the hardest. Kuba Shand-Baptiste, Commissioning Editor and columnist for Independent Voices, the opinion section of The Independent, joins Kritika and VENT host Amelia to talk this one out. This episode was produced by the VENT Production Team: Rose de Larrabeiti, Lucas Fothergill, Jess Lawson and Moeed Majeed and is part of our bonus series - Covid-19 Fact Checkers.
