The Pains Of Being Displaced In A Wartorn Community

Vestiges Of Violence - A podcast by HumAngle

The journeys of millions of people in northeast Nigeria are mostly alike. They were living peacefully in their communities before Boko Haram erupted. Then, in 2014 or 2015, it got worse and they had to find shelter elsewhere, particularly the state capital, Maiduguri. So they ran. Some of them died on the way, some got detained, and others made it to Maiduguri, to IDP camps. When they first fled, they imagined it would be temporary. But it’s been eight years and they are still displaced. How do they feel about this ill luck? This story was reported and scripted by Hauwa Shaffi and edited by Anthony AsemotaProduced by Attahiru JibrinVoice acting by Rukayya SaeedMultimedia Editor: Anthony AsemotaExecutive producer: Ahmad SalkidaFor more stories, visit humanglemedia.com.
