Osborne Macharia - The Power of Daydreams

Osborne Macharia, is an advertising photographer from Nairobi, Kenya. Osborne is one of the most creative photographers in the world and his clients include Disney, Apple, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, VW, Mercedes-Benz, Kenya Airways, Guinness, Samsung, Forbes magazine the Oprah Winfrey Network and many more. His work has gained the attention of people around the world having been exhibited in South Africa, Brazil, Singapore, Italy, Switzerland, Bahrain, Ethiopian, Mali, Nigeria and Dubai. Osborne’s style, which he calls Afrofuturism, past, present and future to deal with topics such as Equality, Representation and Care for the Elderly. He’s gained press coverage from CNN, BBC, Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle, Adobe, Buzz Feed and the Huffington Post.Our conversation covers how Osborne broke into photography, how he comes up with his ideas, changing perceptions of Africa, crafting his own path as an artist as well as the stories behind some of his most creative projects.
