The State of Central Europe after the December EU Summit

Visegrad Insight Podcast - A podcast by Res Publica Foundation - Tuesdays

In  this podcast, we ask the question about the state of central Europe  after the last EU summit. Just before the negotiations, Victor Orbán and  Mateusz Morawiecki along with Jarosław Kaczyński were threatening to  veto the next Multi-annual Financial Framework and the European Recovery  Fund. While the leaders of both countries were telling the story of  Central European unity and support, in fact, we also heard vocal  opposition to the veto from other countries in the region. While  the V4 does not need a coherent voice on every possible political  initiative (and it is often just a platform for consultation), the  nature of the cooperation between these countries remains a valid  question, especially after two V4 members were threatening the vital  interests of everyone else against common sense and acceptable norms.  Views from across Central Europe are provided by Marcin Zaborowski (Res  Publica Nowa), Zuzana Stuchlíková (Europeum), Edit Zgut (Visegrad  Insight Fellow) and Tomáš Strážay (SFPA).
