Why Compassion is the Most Important Tool We Have

We Can Remake The World - A podcast by Nathan Gardner

Things may be chaotic, but we can rise above the worst of it. We all want to feel like we have some control over how things play out in our lives, and in the world, but there's so much that's out of our hands right now. Rather than getting stuck in judgment and blame, we can find compassion for ourselves and for others to recognize that we're all doing our best. We may not accomplish everything we believe we should right now, and that's okay. We may see others' actions and feel discouraged or distressed by them, and that's okay too - they're doing their best just like we are. Compassion leads us away from the daily dramas and toward acceptance, both for ourselves and for others, so that even during the most difficult times we can find a sense of calm.
