Carol Cooper's only child Brian passed in 2016 due to a Fentanyl overdose after receiving what he believed was something to help him relax as he suffered with anxiety and sleep issues. She is the author of the books "Knock Knock, It's Me Mom" and “My Broken Heart Lives on Without You: Incredible Stories of Hope and Unconditional Love from our Loved Ones in Heaven.” As a former special education teacher and designer of award-winning anti-bullying bears, Carol runs a nonprofit foundation, “A Life for Brian,” where she raises money to help those struggling with addiction and mental illness. She provides funding to those in need of shelter, many of whom are homeless, and is passionate that there is a way for all to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.
