186: Introducing The Roe Series

We Gotta Talk: News, Issues, and Beauty for Women - A podcast by Sonni Abatta

Over the next several weeks, I'll be sharing interviews about the Dobbs ruling--a decision by the Supreme Court that rules there is no constitutionally-protected right to abortion for American women--reversing decades of what was seen as progress toward bodily autonomy and freedom to make personal healthcare decisions for women. This ruling has sparked intense debate across America. To note: It will not impact abortion access in all states; essentially it gives state the right to determine their own set of laws as to when and if women can get access abortion care. But it is widely accepted that this will limit access to abortion care for a large population of American women. This week I'm starting a series of interviews about this ruling--examining the How and Why this happened; how this can impact women's health care going forward; and, in a series of audio diaries, women sharing their personal stories about why they believe what they do abortion, whether pro-choice or pro-life. I named it The Roe Series as a way of looking back at the era of reproductive choice we just exited, as we move toward an uncertain future. Wherever you stand on this issue, I invite you to listen to the wisdom of our guests, and join me as we learn together what is next. Thanks for taking the time to listen. Please reach out on Instagram if you have any feedback, or email me at [email protected] if you want to share a story of your own. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wegottatalkwithsonni/support
