This is not a race--KAREN LEE

Karen Lee knew early on that she wanted to differentiate herself from others. In middle and high school, she avidly pursued robotics, often being one of the few girls. And while engineering seemed a natural path, she decided instead to study art history and then business before becoming the founder of Glou Beauty. Though her self-confidence is high, she does experience anxiety that she will disappoint others. Social media and comparing herself to her friends’ successes can compromise the strength she draws from her independence and differentness. To undo this, Karen reminds herself that “this is not a race” and takes breaks from social media and work to re-gain her objectivity and enthusiasm.
