Charlotte Restauranteur Jamie Brown on Tackling Anxiety, Panic Attacks, and Leaky Gut Without Medication

A Well + Nourished Soul - A podcast by Ashley George - Thursdays

We were incredibly inspired after today’s interview! Jamie Brown is a lovely Charlotte local who co-owns several popular restaurants in town. She and her husband have 3 kids, they both have their MBAs, and they own Haberdish, Crepe Cellar, Growler’s Pourhouse, Reigning Doughnuts, and Supper.Land, which is opening soon. In the midst of their food and beverage success, Jamie started noticing signs of a possible autoimmune disease in the form of anxiety and debilitating panic attacks. She radically changed her diet, took a functional medicine approach, and was willing to do whatever was needed to stop the anxiety from affecting her life in such a negative way.  Jamie provides insight about her experience of chasing dreams alongside her husband, and what it is like to form a team of employees and build a community. She poured out her heart when she shared about the fear she experienced due to panic attacks. Through dedication to a strict elimination diet, a visit to the Cleveland Clinic, and a whole lot of perseverance, she got to the root cause, is reversing leaky gut and the inevitable onset of an autoimmune disease. She tells us about the AIP diet, what it was like to quit sugar, and tips about how to identify food triggers when it comes to anxiety. Real food is her medicine, and she has found JOY again through this healing process! This episode is enlightening and encouraging! We are so thankful to Jamie for being vulnerable with us, and we know that her story can help others!  Jamie’s Instagram: @jamie_making Their restaurants: Haberdish; Crepe Cellar; Growler’s Pourhouse; Reigning Doughnuts; Supper.Land **Their restaurants are currently doing take-out orders during the Shelter In Place rule with Covid-19. Their food is wonderful! We highly recommend trying their take-out if you are in the Charlotte area!
