We could call Dr. Helen Graves a real champion for a drastic career change as she turned her passion into a full-time job. Sounds like a dream come true to many, but what does it cost to get there?  The career change can be over-romanticized sometimes- from being your own boss to working from home to putting yourself out there. On the other hand, living a double life, dealing with after-the-switch financial burdens, and knowing how to choose “right” projects are just on the top of the iceberg. Helen also opened up about so-rarely-talked-about issues such as impostor syndrome, lack of confidence, and workplace bullying. To top that up, we discussed how and why she finished a Ph.D. in health psychology research during the lockdown, although she didn’t see herself working in the field.
