According to the Department of Education, nearly 300,000 K–12 students were enrolled in a fully virtual school in 2019. And with the shift to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, enrollment in virtual schools is growing throughout the United States.  Why has the movement to expand virtual learning continued even after many schools have returned to in-person instruction?
