Karen made her first garment at the age of seven. Having grown up with a black and gold singer sewing machine in the house, watching fabric come to life in her Mother's hands, she marveled at how a flat piece of fabric could be transformed and engineered into 3d clothes worn by the family. At 19, she started a small fashion business. She studied fashion design and fashion drawing at London's Central St Martin's School of Art. Later on she chose the predictability and dependability of corporate retail, immersing my geekish side into merchandising analysis. KAIA Clothing represents a return to her earliest passion, with a desire to solve some of the sustainability challenges facing the industry in our lifetime. Sustainable Clothes| KAIA Clothing In this episode we talk about Karen's journey to building her sustainable clothing line. We discuss the role of culture and inequality in shaping our path and creativity. I enjoyed this conversation - I hope you do too!
