The Gospel of Mary is found in the Berlin Gnostic Codex (Papyrus Berolinensis 8502). This very important and well-preserved codex was discovered in the late-nineteenth century somewhere near Akhmim in upper Egypt.  Scholars do not always agree which of the New Testament people named Mary is the central character of the Gospel of Mary.
