In 1911, an American Indian called Ishi emerged from the North Californian forest after decades in hiding from Indian-hunters.He is thought to be the last survivor from the Yahi tribe.Ishi became a tourist attaction in San Francisco and many recordings were made of his stories and music.Louise Hidalgo retraces Ishi's story.PHOTO: Courtesy of the Phoebe A.
