My guest today is Dr Mandeep Rai, author of the Sunday Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller ‘The Values Compass’. Endorsed by the Dalai Lama and Deepak Chopra, The Values Compass explores the values of 101 countries around the world, sharing stories of how these values cascade through our global culture and act as guardrails for decision making and action. In this episode we discuss the importance of having clear values and how they tangibly impact our lives, both as individuals and communities. Mandeep tells us about her experience with silent meditation in Thailand, and how profound (and challenging!) moments of stillness can be in “sifting through the mud” of our minds - an experience that some of us may share during lockdown. Reflecting on the Covid-19 pandemic and life thereafter, Mandeep says: “we can shed the fear of ‘what happens when we go back to normal?’, we won’t let that happen… there is only progression, you can never go back”.
