Ep 24 - Girls in STEM, Educators View with Urban Assembly Institute

Working Wife, Happy Life! - A podcast by Bethanie Baynes - Tuesdays

It’s been said that children are 1/3rd of our population yet they are all of our future. How we invest, focus and strive for the betterment of our children is a direct investment in a better world. In this episode, I sit down with the Co-Founder and Director of Student Support Services of the Urban Assembly Institute of Math & Science for Young Women in Brooklyn, NY (@uaimathandscience). UAI’s mission is to empower all students. Through a rigorous curriculum engaging students in science, technology, engineering & mathematics, their students develop their voice, confidence and capacity to thrive and equitably compete in any college or career of their choice. Tune in for an incredible discussion focusing on the opportunity, versus the gaps, of the pandemic, the importance of students to be self-directed and educated, not just in the subjects but in core life skills, the evolution of girls in STEM education and the need for connectivity, both in humanity and literally with hotspots. If you are interested in getting involved with the school in any way, donating your time, money, skills or (seriously!) hotspots, you can visit them at uainstitute.org.
