Chicago Riots: A Biblical Response (134)

🙏As in many other cities, rioters have hit Chicago. What began as peaceful protests, over the apparently* unjust police killing of a man named George Floyd in Minneapolis, have devolved into a widespread conflagration of vandalism and violence over multiple nights. We're going to talk about that. Three notes about this episode: A. I'm not addressing the killing of George Floyd here. For a good approach to that, I recommend this episode of the Just Thinking Podcast: https://thebarpodcast.com/JT/index.ph.... B. This episode is brief and won't hit everything that needs to be said. But I'll try to make what I do say, good. C. This is for Christians who want to think biblically about current events. Don't expect advice for how those outside the church should respond. And don't expect me to share my personal, subjective opinion. I want to share God's word. Let's look at Psalm 110 together for answers to these three questions: 1. Who's in charge here? 2. How should the church respond now? 3. What will be the outcome of all this? We're going long on the "Monday Minute," so I'm calling this a "Monday Monologue." ***** *Before you accuse me of crimethink, saying that I am somehow justifying Mr. Floyd's killing, know this: I am not. At all. I believe Mr. Floyd was murdered. I watched the video and was shocked and enraged. It certainly looked like an unjust killing to me. However, this is why we have trial by jury in this nation. Let all the facts be exposed before you condemn a man. Let justice prevail here, knowing that ultimate justice will be served by the Lord Jesus in the end. It's okay to say that. In fact, it's biblical. Get the full show notes here: https://thethink.institute/podcast
