Episode 5 - Challenges Women Face in the Music Industry with Linda from Voice of A Woman

Write on Track: A Songwriting Podcast - A podcast by Demi Michelle Schwartz - Sundays

My vision for Write on Track is for it to show the reality of being a songwriter in a very authentic way. This means being willing to discuss more serious topics, one of which is the challenges women face in the music industry. I was honored to have Linda from Voice of A Woman on the show for this conversation. The quote for this episode is by Dua Lipa: “For a female artist, it takes a lot more to be taken seriously if you’re not sat down at a piano or with a guitar, you know? For a male artist, people instantly assume they write their own music, but for women, they assume it’s all manufactured.” Linda and I talk about the reality of being women in the music industry in a very thoughtful and honest way. We discuss the roller coaster ride of ups and downs, and we open up about our own personal feelings and experiences. It’s my hope that this episode can add to the conversation surrounding women in music in a positive way. Are you enjoying Write on Track? Do you have a topic suggestion for an episode?
