It’s a Cardinal kinda week, astrologically speaking. Cardinal, for those who don’t know already, is a “quality,” a way of expression – a style, so to speak. The term is derived from the start of a season, and so, its means initiation, beginnings, leadership, starting, generating. With five planets in Cardinal signs - Cancer, Capricorn and Aries – it’s the sorta week where you really wanna be at the helm, navigating your own ship and calling the shots.

Get ready for Mercury Retrograde! Yes, it’s that time of year again for you to take a step back, reflect, and rest your mind. Remember, Mercury Retrograde is a very necessary break, and all the “re” words can be applied — reflect, review, retake, responsibility, rest, renew. The possibilities are endless, and with Mercury going backwards in deep, investigative Scorpio, psychological breakthroughs are the name of the game.

This is the perfect week to initiate self-enquiry, especially into traumas of the past and coming to terms with any abandonment wounds or wounds around power and feeling empowered. You’ll be able to gain a much better handle on these issues in the next few weeks, and you could emerge from this 3-week foray feeling much more in control and on top of things, armed with great insights and even more empathy. Sound good? You bet!

Mercury also makes a second opposition to Uranus in Taurus, inviting flashes of insight and intuition — quick, write them down before they disappear! It’s a trend to bash Mercury Retrograde, but so much good can come of this needed time.

It’s important to keep these words in mind and your eyes on the prize, because there’ll be a few moments this week where you may feel like the wind has been taken out of your sails. The Sun in harmony-loving Libra throws an opposition and two squares to Mars, Pluto, and Saturn, in that order, and the results may be creeping feelings of self-doubt or even unworthiness of the tasks that lie ahead of you.

You may want to hide or bury these feelings under a show of bravado, but this won’t fly — it’ll just come off as controlling or bossy — or at worst, drama-seeking. Instead, be real. Be authentic. Sit with those uncomfortable feelings and see what happens. Apply your re-words. You’ve got this!

When it comes to matters of the heart, there’s a sweet New Moon in Libra, which gives some much-needed gentleness to the week, and for those looking for a new start in their relationships, this is the time to move forward.

Coming together and breaking away are both themes, depending on where your relationship has been going. A Venus-Neptune opposition may have a romance appear in your life — or reflect a theme — of dependency or spirituality. This, again, depends on the types of people you’re letting into your life. Are you being good with your boundaries?

Remember, New Moon effects last for around 6 months, so don’t expect anything to happen too suddenly! Mercury Retrograde can be a bit confusing as you know by now, so for the third time, apply your re-words. Now you’re getting it.
