On this day (January 15th) in 2009, Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River after the Airbus A320 serving the flight struck a flock of birds shortly after take-off from New York, losing all engine power. Unable to reach any airport for an emergency landing due to their low altitude, Sully and co-pilot Jeffrey Skiles glided the plane to a ditching in the Hudson River off Midtown Manhattan. All 155 people on board were rescued by nearby boats, with only a few serious injuries. What an incredilbe aviation story. Follow Amy Tango Charlie on Twitter: https://twitter.com/atoocpodcast
