My Chemical Menopause with Kirsty Dougal

At Your Cervix - A podcast by Emma and Gráinne

Kirsty Dougal is Scottish but lives in the Cotswolds. She is 42 and works in research funding for biological sciences. Outside of work, she is passionate about horses, having previously worked in the equine industry. If money was no object she would happily spend her time outdoors cuddling horses! 4 years ago her life was turned upside down due to the perimenopause and menopause. She experienced the perimenopause at 38! Her symptoms were life-altering and her battle to seek diagnosis and treatment have been very difficult. Her transition into the menopause is not conventional. At 41 she went through a chemical menopause before having surgery last year to be put into a surgical menopause! She realised first-hand how poor support is  and is now driven to do what she can to help other women understand the topic and know how to advocate for themselves and access the right help.
