Ayurveda Life School Podcast - A podcast by Heather Johnson

Did you know that each dosha has 5 subdoshas? In this episode we become specialized in healing kapha dosha, and just in time for the spring season congestion, allergies, lethargy and extra weight. By identifying each subdosha of Kapha: Kledaka Avalambaka Bodhaka Sleshaka Tarpaka And their associated symptoms, we can become our own healers. In a nutshell to heal the subdoshas do the following: Kledaka- adjust diet and herbs to dry, light and warm foods focused on the tastes of bitter, astringent, pungent. Add spices to your meals to increase the heat. Only eat when hungry leaving plenty of time between meals to digest food. Avalambaka- Let it go! Clear out unnecessary possessions and create space. Practice not attaching-time to spring clean your physical space and your emotions. Bodhaka- Same treatment as Kledaka. Sleshaka- for stiff joints add in movement and stretching. for swollen joints use rest, heat and herbs. Tarpaka- Avoid excessive sleep. Stimulate the senses through time in nature, vigorous music and movement, uplifting smells. Listen in to hear the symptoms of imbalance in each subdosha and you will be on your way to strengthening your own divine intuition to heal your imbalanced kapha. If you are naturally kapha dosha in your constitution, you will be more likely to go out of balance during spring (kapha) season. But all doshas can become out of balance with too much kapha this time of year, so all can benefit from this knowledge.
