Ep #44 Proper Food Combining to Feel Great
Ayurveda Life School Podcast - A podcast by Heather Johnson

What foods we eat together can have a dramatic impact on how our body digests the foods and how we feel after eating. But let’s not overcomplicate things. Start with one habit to shift and work from there. In this episode I cover the 8 factors that Affect Food Quality, why it’s important to create a Sadhana (sacred) meal experience, and dive deep into proper Samyoga (Food Combining). The basic guidelines for Food Combining: Fruit eaten Alone Milk eaten Alone is best (warmed is even better) Milk should not be combined with yogurt, sour fruits, meat, fish or eggs. Do not combine 2 proteins at the same meal. Do not combine a high protein food with a heavy carb. (ie steak and potatoes) Eggs are best eaten with vegetables. Do not combine eggs with milk, cheese, yogurt, beans, potatoes, meat or fish. Nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers etc) do not combine with cheese. (this means pizza may cause digestive issues) Raw and Cooked foods do not combine well. Listen for more tips and ways to adjust your meals to follow these guidelines simply without creating stress or overwhelm.
