HR Works Podcast 160: Strong Candidates Among the Disabled
HR Works: The Podcast for Human Resources - A podcast by James Davis

Guest: Carolyn Cannistraro, Account Relationship Manager, Wells Fargo According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the current unemployment rate for persons with a disability is 12.6% compared with the total unemployment rate of 5.4%. False myths about people with disabilities often lead to their termination before other employees, as evidenced by the 1 million such employees who were let go since the pandemic began. Since March 2020, 1 in 5 workers with disabilities have been dismissed from employment compared with 1 in 7 other employees. These figures represent a tragedy for employees and employers alike as employees with disabilities are demonstrably excellent and dedicated workers. They are also often in delicate situations outside of work for which the loss of a job can and often does spell disaster. Today’s guest is an advocate and disability expert with a lot to say on the subject. I am pleased to have with me Carolyn Cannistraro, Account Relationship Manager at Wells Fargo (https://www.wellsfargo.com/).
