Inhabit means to live in our bodies, not in our heads. When we learn to be present in our bodies, to move out of the obsessive thinking and into our feelings, we can learn to identify and meet our physical, emotional and spiritual needs. First, we must be aware that we are in the obsession in the thinking, in the head. Then we can use our breath to bring our awareness into our body and explore what we are experiencing in our bodies. Dr. Deah (Day-uh) Schwartz Ed.D, M.S. M.A., CTRS, has extensive experience using Therapeutic Arts, Music, Drama and Recreation techniques in a variety of clinical and educational settings with clients ranging in age from 5 to 80+. Dr. Deah began her work in Body Acceptance and Eating Disorders in the 1980’s and was a pioneer in the field as evidenced by her co-authoring and and being an original cast member of “LEFTOVERS: THE UPS AND DOWNS OF A COMPULSIVE EATER," and the “LEFTOVERS Workbook/DVD set.”  Dr. Schwartz was a professor at San Francisco State University for 10 years, preparing students for careers in Recreation and Expressive Arts Therapies.  Her passion for self-acceptance and expressive arts is put to good use in her latest book,  Dr. Deah's Calmanac, an interactive monthly guide for cultivating a positive body image.  Available on Amazon, Barnes & Nobles and her website at drdeah.com, she hopes her words and suggestions will provide assistance in defining one’s own standard of beauty and finding ways to make peace with one's body.  ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
