Should Rehab Be Hard? | Episode 19
Low Back Pain Podcast - A podcast by Dr. Grant Elliott - Fridays

Dr. Grant Elliott with RehabFix Online Low Back Program: Does low back rehab have to be hard? Do you have to be sweating and struggling for something to be hard? Well if the difficulty was all that mattered then I would just tell my online low back clients to do burpees and planks, but obviously, that wouldn't be helpful for low back pain, disc herniation, or sciatica! Good rehab yields good results quickly. The difficulty or complexity of rehab does not determine how effective it is! If you are not able to incorporate your rehab into your everyday life then it isn't applicable and therefore unrealistic to produce long-term relief! I have worked with many individuals who were doing 2 hours of rehab every day before working with me and over the first couple weeks I would have them only do 10 minutes of rehab a day and they felt like they weren't doing enough! This is a false expectation that rehab has to be long or difficult. Once we turned the focus away from difficulty and towards results, they realized even though they were spending a fraction of the amount of time on rehab, they were getting far greater results. This is good rehab! My job is to help you reduce the amount of time wasted on ineffective exercises and to get you significant results with simple applicable things you can do every day, any time, anywhere! So if you are currently in a rehab program, or feel like you should be due to low back issues I want you to evaluate if you are getting significant results quickly and if you are being asked to do things that you can incorporate into your life to find relief at home, at work, or anywhere outside a gym! If the only plan you are being provided is complex exercises that you can only do in certain environments and with special equipment but are still struggling with pain, sciatica, and restricted motion then it is time to find a different plan! Use these criteria when looking for help and if you are looking for serious low back coaching then let me help you! The link below will allow you to submit an application so you and I can work 1-on-1 together to put the right plan in place and have constant communication with me to ensure you get the results you are looking for!
