This chat comes with a trigger warning as we take a deep dive into eating disorders and eating disorder recovery. Today we're excited to introduce our guest, Kristie Amadio, an eating disorder survivor and now Founder and CEO of Recovered Living, a Christchurch based not-for-profit residential facility for eating disorder recovery. A year or so ago we were introduced to Kristie’s Ted Talk where she pulled out some quite outrageous facts about eating disorders and how hard it can be to get help. In today's episode we hear a bit about Kristie's story - about living with an eating disorder for 14 years and what it now means to be 'recovered', as well as about the newly opened (just 8 weeks old) Recovered Living in North Canterbury. In this chat we also answer some of your questions, such as how to prevent eating disorders in kids and at what point do we/does someone need help. Kristie's story may be confronting for many so this episode comes with a warning. A huge thanks to Kristie for sharing her story. We hope you enjoy this episode.
