Running from Trauma: Sexual Assault Experience, Modern Day Victim-Blaming, How To Support Victims

Resiliency in Running - A podcast by Liz Newcomer - Fridays

This was truly the heaviest episode I've recorded so far (hence why it's also my longest ha!). In all seriousness, I haven't been as open about my experience with sexual assault publicly as I have in this episode, this is something I've always wanted to do as I know not all victims have the privilege of testifying in a case. I also know that it's hard to hear that your family member or friend has experienced such a traumatic thing, so I wanted to include helpful tips for that audience! I solely wanted to record this episode in the hopes that I can open up the conversation a bit more, because sexual assault isn't something that's talked about enough, and it's time we start.  Statistic sources:  CDC website Rainn.org Song mentioned:  Rise Up - Andra Day Accounts mentioned (instagram):  Nayo Jones @womensrepublic_ @jessicarachelsharp  National Sexual Assault Hotline: 1-800-656-4673 I'm running for the Boston Children's Hospital for the London 2021 Marathon!
