In this episode of Making Remote Work we discuss the benefits of Mindfulness when working remotely, the importance of this practice/state on keeping a balance between work and family in testing times.My guests are Tammy Allen of the University of South Florida and Jay Narayanan of the National University of Singapore.Tammy D. Allen is a distinguished university professor within the department of psychology. Her research is focused on individual, organizational, and societal factors that relate to worker career development and wellbeing, with a particular interest in the intersection between work and family. She uses multiple methods and tools in her research, which has been cited over 30,000 times and has received multiple awards. Dr. Allen has also co-edited and co-authored multiple books. She has been a visiting scholar and guest speaker at universities and organizations across the world.Dr. Allen was the 2018-2019 President of the Society for Occupational Health Psychology and is a past president of the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She is a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the American Psychological Association, and the Association for Psychological Science.-----------------------------------------------------Jayanth (Jay) Narayanan is an Associate Professor of Management & Organization at the National University of Singapore. He has a PhD from the London Business School. Prior to his PhD from London Business School, Jay was an entrepreneur who founded India’s largest assessment company, Merittrac. His studies the influence of mindfulness at work, negotiation and decision making. His work has been published in the top outlets in the field such as Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes and Academy of Management Review. He is also on the editorial board of a number of journals in the field.He has led the Negotiation & Influence program and the Emerging Leaders Program at NUS, programs that have consistently received top ratings. Jay has taught across the world to executives in a wide variety of industries ranging from a wide variety of people from industries such as telecom, law, financial services, consumer goods to name a few. He has also taught senior managers and leaders from a wide range of geographies across Asia and Europe.
