Gavin S. Johnson visits The Context of White Supremacy. Mr. Johnson is a New Orleans native and a hospital and health care professional. We'll review his memoir, Prisoners of Katrina: Stranded at Work in New Orleans Parish Prison. Mr. Johnson brought his elderly father with him to work at the prison on August 28th, 2005. The toxic flood waters drowned the city the following day. He recounts a dizzying scene of a flooding penitentiary, guards abandoning their posts, sick prisoners, brawling prisoners, and no communication or backup. Mr. Johnson makes note of being one of the few Whites in this frenzied environment. We'll get his thoughts on the 10 year anniversary of levee breech and the alleged recovery of the "Crescent City."
